Part 1 Make a (3) seven-step grayscales (black to white or vice-versa) One in pencil, one in ink, one in guache. Note: The simplest way to do these are to draw or paint lots of values on a page, cut out the areas demonstrating even tone, and glue them down in order. Use your watercolor paper for the wet-media. Be sure steps are even. Better grade for a better page design.
Part 2 Option A Using a full range of values, make a guache painting of at least three of the same single color fruit or vegetable in three different views. Work from a still-life with directional lighting. Guache is traditionally used to paint solid color areas, hence, you shall translate your still life into the shapes of its highlights and shadows. Note: Leave a border around your 8.5"x11" sized sheet of watercolor paper. Be aware of your point of view.
Part 2 Option B Design 3 graphic images with inkwashes. One high contrast, one low contrast, and one with a full range of values. Make one image representational, one abstracted, and one non-objective. (Outline #1) Note: Black, white, and middle gray constitute a "full range."
